About Hale Development

David Hale

A Portland, Oregon native and University of Oregon graduate with a degree in Journalism, Hale worked in the Portland development and home building industry before relocating to Boise in 1997 to start his companies, Hale Development and Boise City Building Company. For the past 28 years, Hale has been a leader in residential and commercial infill development and construction, focusing on higher density single family attached and detached residential housing and commercial redevelopment.

Hale conceptualized Boise’s Linen District’s in 2005, acquired numerous properties in the 6-block area, then went on to implement the design, development and renovations necessary to activate a new neighborhood in Downtown Boise. He received a Smart Growth award for his redevelopment efforts in the Linen District, which consists of the Modern Hotel and Bar, Linen Building, Big City Coffee (now Caffeina Kitchen) and A’Tavola Gourmet Marketplace, in addition to numerous other successful businesses in the area.

Hale is the very first developer in Boise to utilize the EPA’s Brownfield Redevelopment Grant Program, working closely with Idaho’s Department of Environmental Quality to successfully clean up the contaminated Linen Building property at 14th and Grove Streets, which paved the way for the renovation of this historic building.

Hale has decades of experience in all aspects of real estate development and construction, including contractual relations, land acquisitions, entitlements, horizontal development, vertical construction, interior design and marketing. His dedication, passion and commitment to developing and building innovative real estate development projects throughout the Treasure Valley is evident in all of his work. He is a father to 3 boys and chooses to spend his free time mountain biking, downhill skiing, fly fishing and golfing.
